Why I trade Forex?

Many people ask me why I trade Forex, Well I think like most people when I was introduced to Trading I didn't know about the Forex market. It was just natural to go looking in the stock exchange for trades. However, I found my trading was very limited, by the time I got home from work in the evening all the action was over. I moved to Forex mainly to take advantage of the 24-hour opening hours, I would often be found at my computer in the middle of the night waiting for the next bar to appear.

Unlike Futures, there are no trading exchanges as such. Trading is being done from major banking establishments around the world, With futures you are generally limited to trading only for a few hours that they are open, if major news breaks and the price starts going against you when the market is closed, you could end up losing big time while you are forced to wait for the market to open. With Forex you will always have an opportunity to trade 24 hours per day 5 days a week. As the sun wakes up each country on its journey it also wakes up the markets in New York, London, Europe, Asia, Australia to name a few.

The Currencies of the world are traded against each other, the most popular being the Euro the US and Australian dollar, British Pound, Swiss Franc and the Japanese Yen. Because of 24 hour trading, it is rare to see large gaps in price like stocks have on the opening and you often see prices in currencies trending more than stocks.

There are many advantages in trading Forex rather than Stocks, expensive Data providers that you need with Stocks is exchanged for free charting software offered by many Forex brokers. With over $1.5trillion (that's 46 times bigger than all the future markets put together!) being traded in a single day you are always sure of a trade, With Low transaction costs, no commissions or exchange fees is it no wonder more and more traders are turning to Forex.

Beware though, even with all these advantages trading is a high risk game and should only ever be trading with money you can afford to lose. With a good Trading Strategy and Money Management in place there is no reason not to join many Traders profiting from trading the Forex markets

Forex Brokers are Valuable Advisors

You should be able to find several indispensable facts about forex broker in the following paragraphs. If there's at least one fact you didn't know before, imagine the difference it might make.

A forex broker is one who assists individuals, traders and firms to trade in the forex market. The assistance can be in the form of providing market information or in conducting the actual trade. In either case, the broker charges a fee according to the services rendered.

The brokers advise clients on forex trading strategies. They also provide real time quotes, and news feeds to forex traders. There are some brokers that provide advice on the basis of their experience, and understanding of the market. There are others who use modern software tools to chart market movements, and arrive at entry and exit points.

The arrival of the Internet and the automation of the forex market have led to the emergence of several brokerage firms. These brokers can provide individuals access to the market, something which was not possible in the past. At that time only banks and large financial institutions were allowed to trade in forex.

See how much you can learn about forex broker when you take a little time to read a well-researched article? Don't miss out on the rest of this great information.

However, this has also led to a mushrooming of foreign exchange brokers, making it difficult for beginners, and even experienced traders, to locate competent brokers. Referrals and recommendations are therefore very valuable in this market. It is always advisable to decide your broker on the basis of a recommendation made by your friend or colleague.

However, it may not always be possible to do so. In that case, it is important to investigate the background of the broker. This can be done by finding out the number of trades being conducted by the broker, and the number of clients the broker services. Another important parameter is the broker's experience. The best brokers are those who have learnt trading the hard way over a number of years. They can feel the market pulse, and provide the right guidance.

The individual must also look at the number of services that a broker provides. This include opening of mini accounts, providing market intelligence, market analysis, news feeds and real time quotes.

Now you can understand why there's a growing interest in forex broker. When people start looking for more information about forex broker, you'll be in a position to meet their needs.

A Day in the Life of a Forex Trader

Are you looking into breaking into the field of professional foreign exchange trading? Or are you already a forex trader doing it regularly? Either way, this article may be of interest to you. The forex trader is a different breed of human being. They utilize the markets to earn a living everyday. We have a look into the insight of a day in the life of a forex trader.

Any professional forex trader has the potential to make massive returns from their initial investment or on the nastier side any trader can make massive losses. It is not a game of chance, trading is a skill of emotional control and sound decision making. Traders have an understanding of market mechanics and their behaviour as a response of economic trends.

Traders makes their living from taking advantage of price differences between the buy and sell price of currency pairs and more importantly they make their money by following the market trend. If you yourself have studies forex charts you may notice how the price fluctuates - there are only three directions the price can do: rise, fall or stay the same. Currency prices only stay the same if the currency value is not floated and fixed to a certain value. Traders make their money on the difference on price so the trader can either buy long and hope the currency rises or sell short as the currency drops in price and still makes a profit.

The advanced forex trader waits for a new trade or rather waits for the right time to open a new trade by looking for the right indicators and signs to signal an entry into the foreign exchange market. There are two things that the forex trader can do at home to watch out for an entry signal: look at charts or wait for news. Traders watch for the right trending signals to enter a trade. And the primary rule for the trader is that 'the trend is your friend.' Stick to the trend and you won't get hurt. Secondly, traders also watch the news. They must know what economic data is coming out on which days and what that data means to the future of the economy of the respective countries. If they don't keep track of these facts and economic data and indicators they may find that some currencies are especially volatile during these news announcement events and see the market jump. The forex trader must be ready for these economic announcements to ensure they can anticipate the increased market activity.

Once the forex trader has successfully entered into a trade, a trade that is going well the trader then simply rides the trend to completion, implementing a trailing stop to lock in profits as the price trends the way the trader wanted the trend to go. But if the trade goes sour, the forex traders needs to exit the trade with grace. The trader must cut their losses to succeed in the business of foreign exchange trading.

Hopefully this has given you an overview of what a professional forex trader does to make a living from simply taking advantage over the price difference. The technique is to enter a trade correctly using trend analysis or a news announcement and then follow the rules of "riding the trend" or the "trend is your friend" with "cutting your losses quickly."

Revealed - Million Dollar Forex Investing Mistakes

Anytime that you are investing in the Forex market, you are going into the Market blind. You dont know what point of the investing trend you are entering in at. You might be investing in a Forex stock just before the trend changes. Smart investing means you need to protect your trading float and set up a stop loss. This needs to be done before you enter a trade, so that there is no room for error, or last minute indecision. A stop loss is simply a predefined point at which you exit the stock.

Effectively, its like drawing a line in the sand underneath the share price, saying, If the share price falls below this line, then the stock hasnt done what I thought it was going to do, and Ill exit the position.

This allows you to protect your investing trading plan, because it cuts your losses short, and guards against an all too human tendency to want to believe you must be right.

95% of investing in an entry Forex position means you are expecting to profit from the trade. If, however, the share-investing price goes against you, you might feel the need to justify why you bought the stock by holding onto it until it turns a profit. You might have heard the idea that all big investing losses once started as small losses. Well, while the share price continues to go in the wrong direction, those losses grow in lockstep. This is why you need to have a stop loss in place its like having an ejector seat that tells you when to abort the mission.

One of the most common question Im asked when traders are introduced to a stop loss is How wide should I set my stop?

In other words, how much room should I give the stock to move? There are no definitive answers to this question because it depends on what time frame youre investing in. If youre a shorter-term investing trader, youre going to have a stop loss thats set closer to the share price. If youre a longer-term investing trader, youll give the share price a little bit more room to move and set your stop loss lower.

Once youve identified what time frame youre looking at trading, you need to be able to remove the normal market noise (volatility) in that particular time frame. You dont want to have to close out of an investing position just because a share price moved a little bit due to its normal trading volatility.

In fact, there are some serious drawbacks to setting tight stops.

First, youll decrease the reliability of your system because you get stopped out more often.

Second, and probably a little bit more importantly, you dramatically increase your transaction costs, because youre trading transaction costs make up a major proportion of your business expenses.

To give yourself a fighting chance, you want to trade a system that doesnt chew through excessive brokerage fees. This is one of the major reasons I steer my clients into developing a trading system that runs over a slightly longer time frame. With the correct system in place, and your investing risk minimized, you are well positioned to maximize your trading profits.
